New Year's Resolutions

Did you know... According to a ComRes poll for Bupa, the most common New Year's resolutions are either to lose weight (35%) or get fitter (33%).

Approx. 4.5 million adults in the UK (7% of the population) have a gym membership, with 12-18% of all gym memberships starting in January and then steadily declining throughout the year. Unfortunately around half of the population won’t stick to these resolutions, with reportedly 80% lasting less than 3 months!

What this means is that redundant gym memberships actually outweigh active memberships, with only 1 in 10 people in England going at least once a month, according to Sport England. That’s a lot of money down the drain!

So what can we do about this? A study by Vitabiotics suggests that although having something to aim for such as losing weight can motivate you to exercise, it is also easy to lose interest. A better solution is to aim for a more long-term, permanent lifestyle change rather than short-lived bursts of working out and healthy eating. Nutrients such as iron have been shown to boost energy levels and reduce fatigue to help you when you’re lacking motivation.

Here is an article that provides some excellent tips about the best ways to stick to your New Year's resolutions:
